During Conservative governments, homelessness goes up. During Labour governments, homelessness goes down. Repeatedly.
Lancaster Courthouse
This "temporary fencing" around Lancaster Courhouse has now been in place for several years. It was erected to stop homeless people sheltering under the porch of the courthouse. This seems a very unfeeling way of solving a problem, and at the time these photos were taken (August 2024), the Court authorites are resistant to removing them. This is the view that visitors get of the city as they drive through. Local councillors are trying to solve the issue. Meanwhile, the Lancaster and District Homelass Action Service (LDHAS) have relocated from Edward Street to nearby.
Cardboard city
